Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development.
Libraries are exempted from obscenity and pornography only for bona fide educational purposes. If the language and behavior that is being emulated is bona fide education, why is it punishable by Law Enforcement?
Not to diminish the concept of personal responsibility, but the leadership in our schools and our government is setting kids up for destruction.
Lewd means crude and offensive in a sexual way. Indecent means not conforming with generally accepted standards of behavior or propriety; obscene.
Books in Wyoming Public Libraries talk about 4th graders sucking d i c k s. Is it less lewd when described as a 4th grader performing oral sex on an adult male?
Books in Wyoming Public Libraries show illustrations of adults having sex with children. Is that conforming with generally accepted standards of behavior?
A story reprinted in The Gillette News Record, December 13, 2021, attributed to Jasmine Hall of the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, tells that Laramie County School District 1 parents asked to remove at least 15 books from libraries due to mature content.
LCSD1 Superintendent Margaret Crespo and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Jim Fraley indicated they will not be removing the books. Fraley called it "educating students" to promote stories about sexual abuse, incest, assault, drug addiction, and suicide.
One of the contested authors, Ellen Hopkins, says these books in Wyoming School Libraries have the power to positively impact and save lives. They "are inspired by real-life events and revolve around difficult topics, such as sexual abuse, incest, assault, drug addiction and suicide." "A book is a safe space to explore that stuff," she told the WTE, "and it’s a lot safer than the internet." The Gillette News Record, December 13, 2021
Why would you encourage kids to explore that stuff?
Let's examine those claims that these materials are positively impacting children. In the past year 42% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered suicide. In the past year Wyoming was ranked the Suicide Capital of the Nation. In the first half of the month of December 2021 in Campbell County alone, there have been three separate incidents of teenagers allegedly making terroristic threats, and multiple minors have been cited for breach of peace for censored language.
Comparing book porn to internet porn, Porn Hub has zero tolerance on illegal material, which is higher standards than Wyoming Libraries have. Also, when kids are furtively or otherwise looking at porn on the internet they are totally aware that the content is illicit. When you put that material in school libraries and public libraries, it has been given the stamp of approval by adults who are respected, and is therefore endorsed as acceptable language and behavior.
Language and behavior for youth set by role models, that is landing youth in the legal system when they demonstrate that they paid attention to the education.
Gillette News Record Blotter, December 16, 2021: "A 16-year-old boy was ticketed for breach of peace Wednesday morning. He had an outburst where he yelled at another student, a 15-year-old girl, telling her to "f--- off."
He will pay for that with loss of liberty and may be fined up to $750.00 dollars and up to 6 months in jail for that language. Multiple Wyoming library books teach the use of the F word, including one book that has more than 1300 variations of the F word alone, as well as 900+ other profane or vulgar words. No censorship on library materials for youth, but censorship on youth that negatively impacts them for life. Does that make any sense to you?
He needs to take one of those books in to court when he appears to answer for the offense, and plead not guilty due to utilizing Educational Material.
The current book challenges happening in Wyoming over Public Library books and School Library books are about the material being taught to children while their brains are still developing. This material is harmful, as is proven by the fact that Law Enforcement is writing citations to youth who practice the language lessons they are being taught, and Law Enforcement has put at least one teenager in jail for acting out the sex instructed in the book This Book Is Gay, allegedly after the book made him curious.
If these challenged materials are going to be allowed to remain as bona fide educational material in Wyoming libraries, there needs to be an immediate moratorium on citations for any reason having to do with language or sexual activity, until the time those materials are no longer being taught to minors in schools and libraries. It is totally unacceptable that Wyoming is fundraising by entrapping minors, at times scarring them for life as they become victims of the system. Please make it stop.
Thank you for reading. The purpose of my campaigns is to highlight corruption and to get assistance from anyone who is able and willing to help return Gillette and Campbell County and Wyoming to American Ideals, and hopefully a culture that applies the law equally to all citizens regardless of position or social class. Thank you so much for the efforts you are making and have already made. Please forward to everyone that you know who might be interested in the information I share. God Bless You, and God Bless America.
HealthyChildren.org, Powered by pediatricians...: Sexual abuse is any sexual activity that a child cannot understand or consent to. "...It also includes ... exposure to pornography."
Brave Mind Psychological Services: Children who are exposed to hard-core pornography are at increased risk for depression, sexual exploitation, and pornography addiction to name a few. Furthermore, because young brains are still developing pornography can shape their sexuality, arousal patterns and their understanding of romantic relationships. There is a great deal of concern that increased exposure to online pornography is related to an increase in teens acting out these behaviors with younger children. Indeed, 23% of reported cases of child sexual abuse are from those that are under the age of 18. Moreover, the part of the brain that is responsible for impulse control and good decision making isn’t fully developed until the mid-twenties. You read that right, mid-twenties!! Obsessive and graphic pornography use can have a huge impact on teens.
